Day 241: I am confident...

I will trust God's love for me. Despite the depth of darkness I'm shrouded in. In spite of the size of the mountain I'm facing. No matter the height of the waves I'm tossed in. Because I am confident...

"For I am persuaded beyond doubt (am sure) that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities, nor things impending and threatening nor things to come, nor powers, Nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord"

Day 240: Stop Holding Grudges...

Stop holding grudges. – Don’t live your life with hate in your heart. You will end up hurting yourself more than the people you hate. Forgiveness is not saying, “What you did to me is okay.” It is saying, “I’m not going to let what you did to me ruin my happiness forever.” Forgiveness is the answer… let go, find peace, liberate yourself! And remember, forgiveness is not just for other people, it’s for you too. If you must, forgive yourself, move on and try to do better next time.

Day 239: Develop the Right Attitude...

Here are 10 "suggestions" to help you develop and maintain a healthy self-image.
Read them slowly. Meditate on them regularly.

1. Hate your sin, but never hate yourself.
2. Be quick to repent.
3. When God gives you light, walk in it.
4. Stop saying negative things about yourself. God loves you and it's wrong to hate what He loves. He has great plans for you, so you're in conflict with Him when you speak negatively concerning your future.
5. Never be afraid to admit that you've made a mistake and don't always assume that when things go wrong, or always say, "It must be my fault."
6. Don't meditate excessively on what you've done, right or wrong; both of these activities keep your mind on you! Center your thoughts on Christ.
7. Take good care of yourself physically. Make the best of what God gave you to work with, but don't be obsessed with your appearance.
8. Never stop learning, but don't allow your education to become a point of pride. God doesn't use you because of what's in your head: He uses you because of what's in your heart.
9. Realize that your talents are a gift, not something you have manufactured yourself; never look down on people who can't do what you do.
10. Don't despise your weaknesses; they keep you dependent on God.

Day 238: Stand...

Withhold not good from those to whom it is due [its rightful owners], when it is in the power of your hand to do it. ~Proverbs 3:27 When you have no idea what to do and you’re too weak to fight the good fight, just be still and know He is God. Let Him fight for you. All you need to do is stand. What I mean by “stand” is to avoid making any decisions while you’re in the heat of emotion. Instead, take time to seek wise counsel and to allow your heart to calm down. Stand; don’t walk away. God will walk you through this, and when you follow Him, you will find you’re still standing once the crisis has passed. ~Sheri Rose Shepherd

My Review on DawnSinger by Janalyn Voigt...

I've been following Janalyn Voigt for about a year now. Eagerly waiting for her fantasy debut to release. DawnSinger will forever go down as one of my all time favorite books. Epically beautiful are perfect words to call it.

From the very first page you are sucked into a fast flying adventure. I finished DawnSinger in two days and wondered back to it for days afterwards. My mind could not escape the wonderful tale I just read. Kai and Shae were so real that is was hard to say goodbye to them.

There is so much that I loved about this book. One it was truly original. I can't really match it with another book and I don't think you would either. Janalyn Voight's writing style is elegant. Detailed yet not overly detailed, and flows with ease. This is a "fantasy"(for the most part) and Janlyn Voight created unique names, different lands, and some scary creatures... Waeven what a truly frightful creature and one I don't ever want to meet. I believe most people would be at ease falling into her lovely, yet sometimes scary world.

I'm a girl so I must comment on the romance in the story. Some might find it to be a bit strange (I don't want to say why, because it could be a spoiler) Normally I would find it to be strange too. Janalyn Voigt wrote it together with sweetness and ease. I desperately wanted the pair to work out.

The Spiritual theme of the book is a common one, but with a different twist. "Sometimes victory comes only through surrender." I was teary eyed by the end, but they weren't necessarily bad tears... sort of bittersweet.

I always like to comment on how the book looks. The cover art is beautiful, yet I was asked if I was reading a vampire book by a few people. I don't know why, because I honestly don't see that. I explained what it was and they honestly seemed curious about it, so perhaps something bigger is behind that. Haha...

It also has the neat feel that Tyndale has with their books. Smooth like an eraser. The font is the perfect size! It has a drawing of a map and glossary in the back, which shows you the proper pronunciation of her lovely names and reminds you who's who.

I can't  really say anything bad about this book. As you can see I loved it... every bit of it. I'm greatly looking forward to book two and I would highly recommend reading it.

About the book:
Author: Janalyn Voigt
Genre:  Speculative Fiction/Fantasy/Christian/Romance
Reader Age Range: 16+ (Just my opinion. It has a few mature related things mentioned in it.)
Page Count:316
Publisher: Pelican Book Group

The High Queen is dying... At the royal summons, Shae mounts a wingabeast and soars through the air to the high hold of Faeraven, where all is not as it seems. Visions warn her of danger, and a dark soul touches hers in the night. When she encounters an attractive but disturbing musician, her wayward heart awakens. But then there is Kai, a guardian of Faeraven and of Shae. Secrets bind him to her, and her safety lies at the center of every decision he makes. On a desperate journey fraught with peril and the unknown, they battle warlike garns, waevens, ferocious raptors, and the wraiths of their own regrets. Yet, they must endure the campaign long enough to release the DawnKing—and the salvation he offers—into a divided land. To prevail, each must learn that sometimes victory comes only through surrender.

 Paradoxical Truths Revealed
A new speculative fiction story releases this summer that captures several paradoxical truths, including: freedom comes through sacrifice – AND – victory comes through surrender. allegorical fantasy readers will be spellbound by the incredible imagery and symbolism throughout DawnSinger, authored by Janalyn Voigt. Some of the key points in the book include:

Freedom through sacrifice. When the willful but reverent main character, Shae, learns her secret identity, she has to decide whether to accept her true calling. Although it may cost her everything, the salvation of a nation hangs in the balance. Shae represents the church. We each must lay down our will and our lives to bring freedom to others.

Overcoming prejudice with unity. In DawnSinger, the clash is not over color of skin but between classes of being. Elderland was already inhabited by the Elder nation when the Kindren entered it from another world through a gate that closed behind them. The Elder accepted the Kindren's occupation of Elderland because they didn't want to live in the areas where they settled—areas within reach of garns (goblenesque creatures) and welkes (giant birds of prey). DawnSinger opens as an unknown enemy stirs strife between Kindren and Elder in an attempt to divide and conquer Elderland. As a result, the alliance of Faeraven, a group of Kindren kingdoms ruled by a widowed High Queen, begins to fall apart. This story arc, which spans three novels, is based in large part on Voigt’s father's experiences of prejudice as a half-breed Native American.

Serving rather than ruling. As the High Queen's health fails, Kai, the hero of DawnSinger, must choose whether to reign and rule in his homeland or to continue in service to the new High King at her death. Kai's decision inspires Shae to make her own.

Conquering fear by not letting it consume you. In Pilaer Hold, an ancient place of defeat for the Kindren, wraiths rush toward Kai and Shae's other protectors. They draw their swords, but the more wraiths they dispatch, the more arise. They learn that to defeat fear, something else is needed.

CSFF Blog Tour: Eye of the Sword by Karyn Henley...

 About the book:
Author: Karyn Henley
Genre: Fiction/Fantasy/
Reader Age Range: 16+ (Just my opinion)
Page Count: 256
Publisher: WaterBrook Press (March 13, 2012)

Where angels walk the ground and the future is told in song, does a man of low rank have a chance at love with a princess?

In Camrithia, a land of shadows and mystical secrets, Trevin lives to serve King Laetham. But his heart belongs to the princess, Melaia. When the King sends Trevin on on a dangerous quest to find the missing comains—captains in the king’s army—he must leave Melaia to the advances of a swaggering Dregmoorian prince.

Challenged to prove his worth, Trevin throws himself into his quest. Striving to prove his love, Trevin undertakes a second mission—find the harps Melaia seeks in order to restore the stairway to heaven. Through fire caves, rogue winds, and murderous threats, Trevin remains steadfastly dedicated to his quest—even when he is falsely accused of a heinous crime. As Trevin’s time runs out, he realizes he must face the shame and horror of his own past and the nightmare that has come to life. Will he have the courage to finish what he has started?

~My Review:
Eye of the Sword, had a lot I loved in it and a lot I disliked. I really loved the characters! The author did a beautiful job on making the "reader" bond with very layered characters in sort of a short time. Truly this book is sort of small, but doesn't lack any poor details in her many characters and different lands.

Trevin was my favorite character and the main one in the story. He grew into greatness and you grew with him. Through every trial and victory. All in all I really loved the main part of the storyline, yet a big "theme" of the story I highly disliked. And that theme was the author's opinion on Angels. I'm not going to go into details, but instead I'll kindly say I disagree... very much so.
This is book two of the series. I did not read book one and I must say I wasn't lost. I don't usually like to do that in a series, but I honestly felt fine without reading book one. Plus the teaser for this book sounded awesome so I had to get it. I  just wish I did some more deeper studying into it, beforehand. I would of had a better understanding on her Angel stuff.

I wouldn't personally  recommend this book, yet I wouldn't say to not read it either. It truly had a great story and lovely writing. I just really disliked her Angel stuff and it also didn't really feel Christian to me. God wasn't really mentioned in it much...  I think I can remember three very small times and it wasn't anything big. So instead I'm going to say to check out what the other tour members are saying about it and then make that decision yourself.

Day 233: Opinions...

You're worth something because God says you’re worth something—not because of what people think or say about you. ~Joyce Meyer

So true! Sometimes I get so tired of others opinions of me. Some people will truly dislike you for no reason. This does hurt. Yet, we should care a whole lot more over God's opinion over us, than others who just want to tear you down. Stay true to all that is Him and don't be afraid to shine His love... it's always worth it! Remember to hold this in your heart... ~Philippians 4:4-9

Day 232: Awestruck By His Glory...

If I could truly see all that the LORD has given me, I would be living in wonder and amazement. With this said, knowing that He has already given us all we need, we just have to see it through His eyes, we can live in wonder and amazement and watch it all be revealed before our eyes daily.

Things to ponder and remember.
He died and LIVES for me (it's finished)
He will never leave or forsake me (His promise)
All things are possible with Him according to His will (amazing truth)
He has a plan and purpose for me (His promise)
He loved me first (SOMETHING I WILL ALWAYS HAVE)

Now, let's live in wonder and amazement and be awestruck by His glory.

Wonderfully Made ~ Ruth

Day 231: Dust Yourself Off...

To the latter it is an aroma [wafted] from death to death [a fatal odor, the smell of doom]; to the former it is an aroma from life to life [a vital fragrance, living and fresh]. And who is qualified (fit and sufficient) for these things? [Who is able for such a ministry? We?]
 ~2 Corinthians 2:16

I'm really liking 2 Corinthians. I think I'll study a bit deeper into it. :-) The verse above is a bit bittersweet because I have personally seen it and felt it. Being a Christian isn't always easy. People will dislike you, just because of it. Then there's others that are drawn to you, because of it. Love, Compassion, and being truly Christlike is not a bad thing. Don't lose the good fight, just because someone has knocked you down. Dust yourself off and shine His love. You are not alone :-)

We are hedged in (pressed) on every side [troubled and oppressed in every way], but not cramped or crushed; we suffer embarrassments and are perplexed and unable to find a way out, but not driven to despair;We are pursued (persecuted and hard driven), but not deserted [to stand alone]; we are struck down to the ground, but never struck out and destroyed;
~2 Corinthians 4:8-9

Day 230: Your attitude is powerful...

People are not our problem. Our problem is the way we respond to our problems.
~ Joyce Meyer ♥

Our attitudes do matter! We are way too quick on seeing only the bad and staying with it. Hard things happen all the time... to everyone! Some t
hings I truly can't understand, but I won't allow it to control me. I won't allow it to win. There is just too much beauty that surrounds me everyday to be so sad, or angry, or bitter. You control your life and the way you want it. Joyce Meyer is a beautiful example of this... Her childhood and young adult life was so tragic, yet she DID NOT allow it to overtake her. She was greatly betrayed by those who should of loved and protected her. Instead of being bitter and angry towards them, she gave them the love that they should of given her. So instead of blaming others around you for your problems... look inside yourself and take the leap of joy with a good attitude. YOU and you alone have the power and control to do that! Your attitude is powerful.

Day 229: No...

There is nothing we can not overcome with the Trinity in our lives, no mountain high enough, no river deep enough, to keep us from loving our Lord, put on the WHOLE armor of God, so we can withstand the wilds of the enemy, press on in the mighty name of Jesus. Adoration to God ~Ruth

Day 228: Incomparable Gain...

But whatever former things I had that might have been gains to me, I have come to consider as [one combined] loss for Christ’s sake. Yes, furthermore, I count everything as loss compared to the possession of the priceless privilege (the overwhelming preciousness, the surpassing worth, and supreme advantage) of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord and of progressively becoming more deeply and intimately acquainted with Him [of perceiving and recognizing and understanding Him more fully and clearly]. For His sake I have lost everything and consider it all to be mere rubbish (refuse, dregs), in order that I may win (gain) Christ (the Anointed One),
~Philippians 3: 7-8

The incomparable gain of knowing Jesus Christ is everything. Pursue HIM, rejoice, and be joy-filled.

Day 227: Crash...

Day 225: Let Go...

Father, today we let go of fear, sadness, worry, anger, shame, guilt, negativity, and emptiness. – We hand it all to You ... in exchange for peace and wholeness. ~In Jesus’ Name, Amen

So true! I need to let go some of that :-) Have a blessed new day everyone.

Day 224: Sweet Sweet Sound...

I think God wants all of us to live our lives as a sweet sweet sound for Him. No matter the song of your life: teaching, learning, building, selling, serving, designing, caring, preaching, fixing, etc. What this song means for me is to always try to have my words and actions be a sweet sweet sound to God. No matter the situation or who you are talking to. We all have a story and vocation and our praise and worship is much more than just singing. Try to praise God in everything that you do and live to worship and love one another. Let it be a sweet sweet sound! In His Grace~

Day 223: He Is There...

"God walks with us. He scoops us up in His arms or simply sits with us in silent strength until we cannot avoid the awesome recognition that yes, even now, He is there." ~ Gloria Gaither

In conclusion, be strong in the Lord [be empowered through your union with Him]; draw your strength from Him [that strength which His boundless might provides].
Put on God’s whole armor [the armor of a heavy-armed soldier which God supplies], that you may be able successfully to stand up against [all] the strategies and the deceits of the devil.
For we are not wrestling with flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the despotisms, against the powers, against [the master spirits who are] the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spirit forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) sphere.
Therefore put on God’s complete armor, that you may be able to resist and stand your ground on the evil day [of danger], and, having done all [the crisis demands], to stand [firmly in your place].
Stand therefore [hold your ground], having tightened the belt of truth around your loins and having put on the breastplate of integrity and of moral rectitude and right standing with God,
And having shod your feet in preparation [to face the enemy with the firm-footed stability, the promptness, and the readiness produced by the good news] of the Gospel of peace.
Lift up over all the [covering] shield of saving faith, upon which you can quench all the flaming missiles of the wicked [one].
And take the helmet of salvation and the sword that the Spirit wields, which is the Word of God.
~Eph. 6:10-17 Hope for the Broken-Hearted

Day 222: The Beauty of Praise

I'm sorry I haven't been writing original post lately. My computer keeps freezing on me, which makes it really hard to do. I saw this on facebook and loved it. :-) I hope you are blessed by it... (copy and paste works nicely)

Don't miss the life changing truth that we can enthrone God in every situation of our lives by praising Him. Praise converts our everyday surroundings into His dwelling place. It is from that throne of praise that God dispenses victory. Praise tunes us into His sovereignty and allows us to experience the reality and power of His presence.

Praise strengthens our prayer life. Prayer is not only a remarkable privilege that we often fail to recognize or understand, it is also part of our worship to God. There is the asking side of prayer when we seek forgiveness, lay needs before God and intercede on behalf of others. Then there is the appreciating side of prayer when we offer praise and thanksgiving to God for who He is and what He has done. Our relationship with God is strengthened through prayer and praise. Now here is my favorite truth about praise. Are you ready? Praise devastates Satan and his forces. Yes! I love it!
In fact, Psalm 20:5 promises, "We will shout for joy when you are victorious and will lift up our banners in the name of our God!"

Satan is well aware of just how powerful praise is and I suspect he absolutely hates it … which absolutely delights me! I can almost sense his fury when I choose to praise God instead of questioning Him. He hates it when I walk by faith, setting aside feelings and emotions while focusing on God's Word and His faithfulness in my life.

No matter where you are or what you are facing, God is with you. Choose to praise Him!

Let's Pray
Father, Thank You for Your power and presence in my life. Help me remember that You are with me and are more than enough for every need in my life. In Jesus' name, Amen. ~Mary Southerland

Daily Blessing: As you wrap up your day (or as you start your day), may God grace you with an eternal perspective. Where there's only been disappointment, may you trust God's divine appointment and timing. Where there's been discouragement, may He inspire new courage to stand strong. Where there's been whining and griping, may you find a new song to sing and new reasons for thanksgiving. May He break through the clouds so you'll see just how blessed you are. Rest in Him! ~Susie Larson

Day 221: Hold Tight...

Sometimes you have to hold tight to what God has already said because you can get so clouded over emotionally that you can no longer rely on what feels right or wrong." - Beth Moore ♥

May God give you kindness and grace for those who step on your toes. May He give you holy and humble confidence in the presence of those who misunderstand you. May He give you love; forgiveness for those who hurt you; miss you completely. And may His love spill over you 'till you know that you’re everything to Him. Rest in Him. Walk confidently tomorrow. ~Susie Larson

Remembering Britt...

Remembering my beautiful cousin today. I can't believe it's been four years. Miss you dearly Britt, but I'm remembering all the good times with you. Some make me laugh out loud... you were the best babysitter ;-) I owe my love of horses (especially Breyers) to you. You always said something kind about me, even with funny colored hair and all my goofiness. So many good memories, just wish I had more...
Nov. 12, 1984~ Aug. 7, 2008 You'll forever be in my heart ♥
This song blessed me... God is still faithful, even in the heartache. He'll always be.

Day 219:He Alone...

For God alone my soul waits in silence; from Him comes my salvation. He only is my Rock and my Salvation, my Defense and my Fortress, I shall not be greatly moved. ~Psalm 62:1-2

I stumbled upon these two verses by accident today while looking for another verse. It blessed me and I just had to share. Love it when that happens... how about you?

Day 218: 2Lovely Quotes...

Two lovely quotes by the great C.S. Lewis...

"This is one of the miracles of love: It gives a power of seeing through its own enchantments and yet not being disenchanted."

"Love is unselfishly choosing for another's highest good"

Day 217: Without You...

He has made everything beautiful in its time. He also has planted eternity in men’s hearts and minds [a divinely implanted sense of a purpose working through the ages which nothing under the sun but God alone can satisfy], yet so that men cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end.
Ecclesiastes 3:11

I truly love the songs these two talented guys sing... pure beauty. Enjoy and be blessed~

Day 216: Gift From God...

Every good gift and every perfect (free, large, full) gift is from above; it comes down from the Father of all [that gives] light, in [the shining of] Whom there can be no variation [rising or setting] or shadow cast by His turning [as in an eclipse]. ~James 1:17

Read this today and had to share, because it's so true :-)
When we are kind to one another it is a gift from God. We can be like the flower that pokes up through the cold hard concrete to share His beauty. A gift to the world as He works in us, on us, and through us. Our mouths can tell people Jesus loves them. Our acts of kindness show them. Everything good is from Him. To God be the glory.

(Giveaways will return and so will the writing challenges... I just don't have time to post one today and I still worry for my computer's life. Thanks for reading.)

Day 215: Empty My Hands...

And they who know Your name [who have experience and acquaintance with Your mercy] will lean on and confidently put their trust in You, for You, Lord, have not forsaken those who seek (inquire of and for) You [on the authority of God’s Word and the right of their necessity]. ~Psalm 9:10

May God surround you with His favor as with a shield. May you walk with humble confidence knowing that you have everything you need because you have Him. May your eyes of faith help you see what you cannot see. May your sense of God's purpose keep you moving forward. And may His amazing love for you heal those deep places in your soul. May He anoint you to walk through life totally and completely transformed.

Day 214: Test it...

Want to know God's Will for your life? Put Him first.....in front of ALL other things.....and you will discover God and His plans for you. Spend time with Him and watch what happens. It's so simple.....don't make it complicated.....just spend time with Him in His word. Don't believe it works???? Test it!
